Hola
folks! We’re looking to see a little more
surf Saturday and conditions should
be a little bit cleaner as the winds subside and turn a little easterly to help
conditions. There’s a new WNW moving in
tonight with surf bumping up into the waist/chest high range. There is a fair amount of wind swell mixed in
so it will still have some bump to it but it should be cleaner than what we’ve
seen over the past few days. Swell peaks
overnight into Sunday with those waist/chest
high waves and tapers off over the course of the day. We’ll see some wind and decreasing surf
Sunday afternoon (why not hit the Encinitas Street Faire!) and even smaller
surf for Monday. Tuesday
(May 1) looks like a new SW ground swell should help out things a little with
surf picking up into the waist/chest high range with the occasional bigger set
at the better summer spots. That swell
will peak late Tues and fade Wed
with waist/chest surf to start the day and some background WNW windswell. Looks like mostly smaller waist high NW
windswell for Thursday with signs of
new but steep SW groundswell late in the day.
That new SW groundswell fills in Friday
and surf bumps back up into the chest high range with some larger (and
inconsistent) sets throughout the day. The better summer spots will definitely see
the majority of this steeper S swell.
On
the weather front we’re looking for a nice day Saturday starting with some
sunshine and light east winds early in the day becoming west later in the
afternoon. Increasing clouds for Sun and Mon with some fairly gusty winds for
Sunday afternoon. A little system moves
through Monday and Tues as we see chances of drizzle on both days and most
likely some S winds and a mix of sunshine and clouds. Air temps in the mid60s tomorrow and slightly
cooler for the rest of the week with a bit of warming for next weekend starting
Friday. The tides aren’t moving a lot as
we’re between New and Full moons. We’ll
see a little push as the tide moves to the medium low mid-morning and as it
hits the medium high late afternoon.
Water’s warming up…low 60s everywhere…woohoooooo!
Let’s
pray for more S swells and warming water!
Happy
surfing everyone!

Notes:
1)
So
much fun stuff to do over the next few weeks…we’ll start with the Creek to Bay
Cleanup. If you’re reading this Friday night or early Saturday morning you can
still get in on this massive SD County-wide cleanup! For a site near you click here: http://www.creektobay.org/index.php?option=com_wrapper&view=wrapper&Itemid=2
2)
And
it always feels like the kick off to summer when the Encinitas Street Faire
rolls around. This weekend the Faire
will be going on with 450 vendors and food booths, rides for kids and live
music! Not to mention Stone Brew will be
there in the beer garden next to the live music. The Coaster stops one block away…check it
out! http://www.encinitas101.com/events/26th-annual-streetfair/
3)
Ok
all you goofy footers…here’s your new favorite wave…machine barreling left in…drum
roll please…NAMIBIA! Don’t worry it’s
only a 36 hour drive from the airport in Cape
Town. http://www.surfline.com/surf-news/spot-check-skeleton-bay-namibia_69446/
4)
And
if you’re doing a little spring cleaning and need to make some space on your
surf racks for some new sticks then take your old ones to the Patagonia Board
Swap next Saturday, May 5th. You
never know what you might find…or who might buy your old sticks! http://www.patagonia.com/patagonia-san-diego-2185-san-elijo-avenue-cardiff-by-the-sea-california-92007

We’ll
end this report with the hottest 15 minutes in surfing right now…the move Code
Red…appropriately names for THE DAY at Teahupoo when the Aug 2011 Billabong Pro
contest was put on hold because it was TOO BIG.
You know someone was gonna ride it.
Well, sit back and watch…these waves will blow you away! http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=uIBgWI_BTyM
