Hump there it
is! Hump Day has arrived! As we hurdle ourselves into the second half
of the week we’re looking at the second half of the NW pseudo-groundswell and
the start of some steep S swell. For Thursday we’ll see more waist/chest
high surf for most of the day with size tapering off a bit by sunset. Tides will definitely be playing a big role
in wave quality and size. That
background S will be pretty non-existent for most spots with an occasional
little peeler at the best summer spots. Friday things look to really taper off
from that NW with thigh/waist high surf and knee/thigh high by sundown. Still some steep S in there too. Saturday
and Sunday we’ll see some new but weak pseudo-short period groundswell. Surf will only be in the thigh high
range.
Sunday we’re
looking at the onset of some NW windswell with small surf around most of
town. There should be a new SW
groundswell filling in though so perhaps by late Sunday we should see some
waves out of the S from that. Monday thru Wednesday the surf will be
a combo of W wind swell and that SW groundswell. Waves increase a tad from thigh high Monday
to hmmmmmmmmmm…waist/chest by Wed at
the better summer spots. Looks like some
funky weather might drop in for a visit late Monday and into Tues/Wed so conditions
might not be ideal as far as winds go. Interestingly
enough it looks like that SW swell and another one behind it should provide for
some fun surf after those funky winds depart.
There’s a little activity up north as well…good sign!
Weather wise we’re
looking at a slight warming trend for the weekend as we go from daytime highs in the mid60s to
the low 70s for the weekend. Looks for
early AM clouds and spotty sunshine midday before those clouds take over fro
the evening hours. The first part of
next week temps will take a dip again and that weather system will pass thru
with morning clouds, midday sunshine but gusty onshore winds late Monday and
through Tuesday. Daytime temps look to
warm up for Halloween with some chilly nighttime temps in the mid/low 50s for
trick or treating! Water temps are
holding in the mid-60s. We’re seeing
some minor tidal movement during the morning hours with a medium low early
morning, a high tide midday. We’ll see
more water movement as the tide moves to a pretty low tide in the late evening
a hour or so after sunset.
Soak up the clean conditions
while we have ‘em. Nothing stellar on
the radar but winter isn’t upon us yet!
Maybe get the SUP out and paddle a few miles to stay in shape!
Stay wet San Diego!
