The
Eagle has landed! Well, our next swell
is well on it’s way as I’m seeing very long period swell show up along the
coast. This steep swell is still making an appearance as there were some very
inconsistent but decently sized waves in the waist/chest range late Sunday afternoon. Monday we’ll see more steep swell with most
of the energy passing SD County but we’ll still see some wrapping and the
better summer spots will see some waist/chest high swell for early Monday as the swell continues to fill
in. Far N. County and the better summer
spots will see some chest/shoulder high surf by the end of the day as the swell
peaks with shoulder high waves. Early Tuesday we
should see another steep swell continue the shoulder high waves and possibly
some slightly bigger sets. This is a
very steep swell so a lot of SD will not see the bulk of the energy from the
swell. Size tapers off early Wed into the waist/chest high range. We should see some swinging sets in the
waist/chest high range for Wed and early Thursday. Size will then fade Thursday into the waist high
range. Friday it looks like the next SW swell will reach our swell window
with much more west in it so more swell for more beaches. We’re looking again
at waist/chest high surf mixed with some W wind swell. We’ll see mostly SW
swell as it builds Friday and into Saturday
in the chest/shoulder high range. Swell
will continue in the same range through Sunday
and into the first part of the week. Models
show some potentially fun swell for the rest of that week but it’s a ways off…as
usual, stay tuned.
Weather wise we’re looking at some nice weather
throughout the upcoming week. We’re
looking at some patchy fog in the mornings and late evenings with hopefully some
clearing by midday. The heat in the
eastern part of the county might hinder that and keep cloud cover onshore but
we’ll hope for some sunshine by some point midday. Light winds though the evenings and mild to
moderate west winds by midday. Air temps
in the high 70s all week. Water’s
warming up especially as we see the next few S swells pulse into town. We’re seeing some fairly low but not negative
tide in the early morning and swinging up to a medium high tide midday and then
draining back out to a medium low right after sunset for the first part of the
week. Not much movement for the second
half of the week as we’re mid-cycle between the Full and New moon.
That’s it for today…get some surf this week!
