Howdy all! Boy what a
crazy bit of weather we’ve had…sun, rain, thunder, and wind! Some good sized swell under all that but what
a mess! We’ll see the tail end of all
that crazy NW wind swell on Sunday. Things were really trying to clean up today
and with some light east winds tonight we should have nicer conditions. There will still be plenty of bumps as it IS
a wind swell after all. HH+ at dawn but
dropping off quickly throughout the day.
Look for thigh/waist high by the time the sunset rolls around. A small WNW will be picking up the tail end
of that wind swell. Look for Monday to start off with some waist
high surf that will continue through the day.
Size slightly tapering off with thigh/waist high waves for Tuesday. The backside of that small NW with a little
more angle on it so even smaller at the northern end of the county (Knee/thigh
high) and the southern end seeing some waist/thigh
high surf. Wed looks pretty small
with just some background SW groundswell hitting in the knee/thigh high
range. Thursday looks to see a small NW groundswell move in. This doesn’t’ have much gusto to it so I’m
saying waist high at best. Friday it looks like the swell will
have peaked so size will be getting smaller on into the weekend. Hoping for a little more action next
week. Tough time of year…Spring brings
mediocre surf and wind. Time to buy a
kite!
Speaking of Spring weather…We’re looking at mostly sunny
skies and some warming air temps over the course of the week. Air temps in the mid-60s along the coast for
Sunday and warming into the mid-70s to kick off the week. Looks like Wed/Thurs will be the warmest
sunniest days along the coast with mid to high 70s before cooling down a few
degrees as we slide into the weekend.
Winds are actually looking fairly mild for March as we’ll see some calm
or light easterly breezes overnight and then some mild to moderate west winds
by the afternoon. That looks to be the
trend for the next most of the week.
Tides are fairly extreme right now with the new moon on Mon/Tues. We’re looking at a full slow mid-morning tide
that will drain out to a mid-afternoon negative low. The turn-around tide push with a little
lingering swell might make for some fun waves.
Water temps have cooled a little with all of the recent winds…mid
50s. Water quality is still a bit
suspect with all of the rain we’ve had in the past 48 hours...over an inch in many places in the county. Best to stay well away from any stormdrain or
lagoon/rivermouth opening for another few days...or just out of the water.
That’s it for me…don’t forget…don’t surf in poo!
Stay wet San Diego!

Publishing remotely tonight so I don't have my usual links...sorry there's not tide pic.
