Ahoy mateys! Looking at some decreasing swell along our
SoCal coast Wednesday. Thigh to waist high to start the day and
diminishing through the day. We’ll see a bit of small WNW wind swell sweep into
town but surf will remain in the thigh/waist high range to start the day Thursday. A bit of inclement weather moves into town as
well so we’ll see a little pick-me-up swell
late Thurs with size picking up a little into the waist/chest
range. Friday looks like the back end of that swell accompanied by a
chance of rain and SW winds. A little
more NW wind swell for Sat in the
waist/chest range but wind will be a factor. Sunday the swell really backs down through the day starting in the
waist/chest range but really dying off into the knee high range by
nightfall. Monday is when it looks like our next swell is due out of the NW.
This storm doesn’t look to be holding a lot of energy but it’s in our swell
window for a little while so we should see some inconsistent waist/chest high
surf to kick off our work week with a bit more energy Tuesday and into Wed
with size remaining in the waist/chest range.
The angle of the swell will give the better winter spots and the
southern end of the county a little more boost that the other spots.
Seeing as it’s
technically winter time it’s not uncommon to see cold rainy weather for a day
or two. We’ll see partial sunshine Wed
with increasing clouds Wed night and Thursday with a decent chance of showers
for Thursday night and throughout Friday and Friday night. Slight chance of showers lingering into Sat
but then clearing Sat night and sunny Sunday.
SW winds will pick up starting Wed through Sat/Sun with Friday being the
messiest day wind-wise. Air temps in the
high 50s through the rest of the week and into the weekend. A bit of warming in the middle of next week
with clear skies. Water temps are still
hovering in the mid-50s. We’re starting
to see some more extreme tides as we approach the New Moon on Sunday. The dawn patrol will see a pre-dawn high tide
drain out to a midday negative tide then turn around for a little tide push at
sunset. That will all get more extreme as we move into the weekend and really
start to affect your session.
Looks like some
wishy washy surf and messy weather for the rest of the week before the cleaner groundswell
hits Monday. Wear your rubber! It’s still cold out there!
