Greetings
So Cal! I hope you’re all having a splendid Memorial Day weekend
so far. Unfortunately the winds aren’t
cooperating and we’re stuck with some pretty junky but sizable windswell. We’re
on the tail end of the swell for Sunday
with some waist high surf for the start of the day and decreasing through the
day. We’ll probably see some minor SW
swell toward the end of the day…nothing sizable that will make a dent in the
tiny NW though. Look for Monday to be even smaller with almost
no swell to speak of. Got a SUP? This will be the day to use it! For most
of the week we’re looking at small NW wind swell in the knee to waist high
range at best. And when I say “most of
the week” I mean…ALL WEEK! The next
decent swell is looking to roll in around Sat. That still a good week away but the models
show some nice long period SW ground swell with even some NW combo’d in there
as well. Hoping to update early next
week with good news!
The
good news is that the weather’s going to get a little nicer…much less wind and
even some midday sunshine. Sunday looks
to start pretty calm with very light S winds over night but hardly a wisp of
wind come daybreak. We’ll see moderate
winds by midday and then the same patter again for Monday. That means a good SUP paddle day for Monday
morning! We’ll see a return of some
patch fog Sun night and into Monday with some sunshine midday. That will be our pattern for most of the week
with a little SW wind midweek. Air temps in the mid60s all week as well. We’re looking at a pretty low tide in the
morning with a medium high in the mid-afternoon as we head to the full moon
next weekend. Water temps have chilled
down a degree or two with all of this wind but still very pleasant.
Looks
like Sunday morning is the day to catch the last of the swell for most of the
week.
I’m
on it…are you?
Mish
P.S. Don't forget to pick up a piece of trash on your way out of the water this weekend!

Notes:
1)
How
well do you know your fish? Well, half
of the fish tested in SoCal isn’t what its label says. You think you’re paying top dollar for some
tuna? Maybe not? Get the inside scoop here.
2)
And
with the world trying to become a little more green these days even rock stars
are going their part. Check out this interview with Adam Gardner from the band Guster and co-founder
of the nonprofit group Reverb,
which works with bands on making their tours more environmentally sustainable.
3)
And
the latest on the ban on plastic bags…well, if a whole state does it don’t you
think it’s worth a try? Congratulations Hawaii
Hawaii! And whoa… Los
Angeles too!?!?!?!? Yup,
Tuesday LA became the biggest city to bag plastic bags. By the end of the year you’ll have to scoop
your pooches poop with something else!
4)
And
some of us loafers sit around waiting for surf to show up at our doorsteps but
no, not Occy…not only is he on the road but he’s looking to win a third world
title! Yes, OCCY!!!!
5)
And
to leave you all with something to dream about…thanks Surfline…you
rock!
