Happy Spring Break
and post-Easter weekend! Looks like we’ve
got some combo WNW wind and groundswell along the coast today with more on tap
for Tuesday. Shorter period swell in the waist high range
with some fun chest high sets at the better winter spots. Swell decreases a bit Tues with some
background SW tucked in there. Wed looks like the swells decrease
further so expect some thigh/waist high surf.
Thursday we start the day
with pretty small leftover WNW but some new long period SW groundswell looks to
start creeping in late in the day. That swell
doesn’t really kick in until Friday
with inconsistent waist high surf early.
There looks to be some more WNW windswell mixed in there so surf will
pick up in size but conditions might be a little bumpy. We’re looking at chest high for Fri and Sat with some bigger surf for
Sunday. Sunday looks like chest/shoulder high with the occasional slightly
bigger set. Monday looks like the WNW windswell drops off but we’ll still see
the SW groundswell with waves in the waist/chest range still. After that it looks like we should have a
nice late winter groundswell as a storm out in the N. Pacific looks to be
throwing some sizable waves our way.
We’ve definitely
got some springtime weather this week.
Funky, warm and cool air temps and occasionally drizzly weather all
week. We’ll see air temps cooler for Tues with some overnight NW winds
continuing from today through the day Tuesday.
That should make for some bumpy conditions for the morning. Then partial sunshine for Tues with mostly
sunny Wed then back to a few more clouds for Thurs and the rest of the week and
weekend. Air temps warming up and in the
high 60s along the coast Wed before cooling down into the mid/low 60s through
next Monday. Winds subside a little Wed
so conditions should be better for Wed/Thurs and then a bit of SW winds for the
weekend. Water temps still hovering in
the high 50s and low 60s. We’re moving
towards the New Moon so we’re starting to see some decent water movement in the
morning. A fairly full high tide
overnight drains out to a near zero tide mid-morning before moving up to a
medium high tide late afternoon. Dawn
patrol with the sucking out tide and the later afternoon push should provide
for some fun waves. The tricky part will
just be the crossed up combo swells and left over wind.
Springtime surf…there’s
swell out there just hop in and make the best of the conditions! Better than flat!
Laters!
