Adios SW groundswell!

Adios fair SW groundswell!  It’s been real!  That super fun swell is on its way out the door with some HH/chest high sets still lingering today and more waist/chest for Monday.  Probably down to knee/waist by sundown. Tuesday sees another but smaller SW swell making its way into town. This one is really more geared towards Baja and Mainland so we’re really only getting an indirect swell. Size will bump back up into the waist/chest high range however with some shoulder high surf at the better south facing summer spots.  Size holds into Wed and starts to taper off in the second half of the day.  Thursday sees the tail end of that SW swell with waist high surf and some new WNW short period windswell back in town.  That wind swell will dominate for Friday with waist/chest high waves and dropping as we ease into Saturday and Sunday.  Knee high bump expected for the weekend.  Late Sunday and into Monday sees some potential for a new SW…nothing spectacular as the storms down south are taking a bit of a break after those last two juicy swell.

Weather wise we’re looking at the tail end of this funky low pressure off our coast that’s been driving these south winds.  Unfortunately we’ll still see plenty of clouds along the coast (dare I call it June Gloom) throughout the week.  Air temps pretty stable in the high 60s and low 70s all week and through the weekend.  Perhaps a spot of sunshine here and there but expect mostly cloudy conditions.  Winds are light out of the SW thru tomorrow then we’ll see a little more NW action for the rest of the week before it turns out of the SW again for the weekend.  Water temps are still hanging in the mid60s.  These cloudy skies aren’t helping any but hopefully it’ll keep getting warmer with a little more SW swell push. Tides are pretty low for the dawn patrol with a nice tide push as it’s moving up to a medium high midday, then medium low late afternoon and then up to a higher high through the night.

We’re seeing a quieter Southern Hemi with still more NW wind swell lingering around.  To make yourself feel better log on to watch the Volcom Fiji Pro .

Adios muchachos!
