Lots of fun surf
over the weekend. A bit more energy than I had anticipated which is always a
nice thing! And how about that weather! So, Tuesday we’re looking at some tapering swell out of the NW but
still plenty of west in it to hit most of SD. Spots south of LJ will still see
some slightly larger sets than up north…waist/chest most spots with some stand
out shoulder high waves to start the day.
A little smaller by sunset. Wed we’re looking at a new NW combo’d
with a SW ground swell. We’ll see waves
throughout the county in the waist/chest high range with sets in the shoulder
high range out of the NW by the end of the day and inconsistent waist high or
so out of the south. Thursday we’re looking at a boost in
swell before our next weather system hits.
Might want to hit it early as winds could be a problem later in the
day. Looking at waist/chest to start the
day and some solid shoulder/HH surf by the evening sessions. Swell peaks out of the WNW late Thursday and
tapers off Friday as the showers set in along with S winds. Size fading
throughout Friday, back down into
the waist high range. Shorter period
surf for the weekend with some chest/shoulder high WNW surf later in the day Sat, peaking late in the day and then
the energy quickly fading through the day Sunday. Looks like some new steeper angled NW to kick
off next week. There are some interesting storms that should be sending us
waves out of the Southern Hemi while a storm forecasted over on the other side
of the Pacific looks to throw swell our way in about a week and a half.
Our wintery
weather isn’t over as we see more clouds this week (after a fantastically
gorgeous weekend!) and much cooler air temps.
Air temps in the high to mid 50s all week. Chances of showers start Wed
and showers are most likely Thursday night, Friday and Friday night. We’ll see a little more sunshine for the
weekend and slightly warmer air temps in the low 60s. The winds associated with this cold front
will kick in Tues night with some light SW winds. Wed actually looks fairly mild with some
light to moderate W winds but Thurs, Fri and Sat will see more WSW winds. Water temps in the mid to high 50s. Tides are starting to move a bit more as we
come around the corner and head towards the new moon early next week. We’ll
start seeing some higher tides to kick off the dawn patrols and negative tides
midday rolling back to a medium high for the sunset session.
Looks like the
Thursday morning would be my call for a super fun session this week…then again,
any session away from my desk is a super fun session!
Have a great
week! Stay wet San Diego!
