End
of the weekend already? Geez! We didn’t have much surf but that’s all about
to change! We’ve got some SE swell
passing us by with some weak NW in there as well. Waves take a little turn on Monday as the storm that’s pounding Washington (rain this
weekend, 55 mph winds and flash floods!) sends us some much needed swell! Surf bumps up late in the day with some
waist/chest high waves as it starts to fill in. South winds might be an
issue! The steep northerly angle might
hinder some spots so the winter spots will probably see a bit more surf. Tuesday
we’ll see more NW swell with chest/shoulder high waves and the occasional HH set
getting thrown in there to kick things up a notch! A weather system is also set to move in and
bring some light to moderate S and SE winds mixed with N/NEW winds. Wed and
Thursday will see the back end of the NW but still some fun waves in the
chest high range for Wed and waist/chest for Thurs. See below for wind forecast. Friday
we’ll see things start to pick up as a late season SW swell fills in. That NW will give us waist high waves to
start the day with very inconsistent SW sets filling in through the day in the
waist/chest high range. Saturday we’ll see the swell peak with
some chest/shoulder high waves at the better south facing beaches. Sunday
we’ll still see some waist/chest high surf with the better sets still around
town. Monday tapers off a little with waist and some chest high sets and
more consistency. It looks like the
southern hemisphere is still alive and kicking so we might see more late South
swells. The NW is waking up…just ask the
folks in Washington!
Ah,
Fall weather…so we’re looking at a system heading at us but hitting the NW
instead of So Cal. We’ll be the lucky recipients of a combo of S/SE and N/NE
winds. Monday will be mostly light to
moderate S winds with more SE winds for late morning Tues and NE into Wed buuuuuuuut
turning SE again by late morning. Similar
for Thurs too! Friday we’ll see the more normal onshore wind which
unfortunately will make for slightly messier conditions for that swell. Air temps will be all over the place as
well. Monday will be hot and sunny and
in the high 70s again with cool air temps overnight. Tuesday thru Thursday will drop into the low
70s and high 60s midday with nighttime temps in the high 50s. Expect a bit more clouds Wed and Thurs and a
chance of drizzle for Wed night too! Then we’re back up into the high 70s and
low 80s with plenty of sunshine for the weekend. Water temps are still in the high 60s except
for areas south of Pt. Loma (the Coronado
area) which is in the mid to even low 60s in spots. High morning tides are lending a nice tide
push for the dawn patrol session and heading out to a low in the early
afternoon before heading up high again for a while after sunset.
Looks
like we could have some really fun surf coming up this week! Let’s hope the winds cooperate!
Stay
wet San Diego!
